In the context of the European Year of Youth activities, the General Secretariat for Vocational Education, Training, Lifelong Learning and Youth organised on 15.04.2022 an online event entitled “Youth Work: the road to recognition“.
The launch of the online event was officially welcomed by the Secretary General for Vocational Education, Training, Lifelong Learning and Youth, Mr. Georgios Voutsinos, who emphasized that the European Year of Youth 2022 for Greece is the springboard for the completion of key stagnant issues in the Youth sector, such as the institutional recognition and certification of the profession of the Youth Worker. He also underlined that it is a priority of the General Secretariat for Vocational Education, Training, Lifelong Learning and Youth to develop policies that will support young people, especially in the restart that takes place in the post-pandemic era.
The event was also welcomed by the President of the Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation (INEDIVIM), Mr. Konstantinos Dervos, as well as the CEO of the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP), Ms. Ioanna Lytrivi. During the event, presentations were held on the Greek reality and the European dimension of Youth Work, as well as good practices by (in order of appearance): Ms. Anastasia Filini, Erasmus+ & European Solidarity Corps Programmes for the Youth – Coordinator at the National Agency (INEDIVIM), Ms. Olga Kyriakidou, President of the Hellenic Youth Workers Association, Ms. Sofia Boutsiouki, Assistant Professor of the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Macedonia, Mr. Charalambos Papaioannou, National Policy Expert, responsible for youth policy issues at the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission, Mr. Athanasios Krezios and Mr. Konstantinos Mavrias, Youth Workers.
The event is the first step in the roadmap to recognition of a profession that effectively empowers and supports young people in the country, especially those with fewer opportunities, to acquire essential knowledge and skills and thus become active, engaged citizens and agents of change, in line with the objectives of the European Year of Youth 2022.
The event was coordinated by the National EYY2022 Coordinator, Ms. Konstantina Pisli, and is available for watching in the greek language on the Erasmusplus Youth channel on YouTube here.
